Grendel's Cave 2D is a top-down 2D pixel-art adventure game. Its setting is the Old English text Beowulf, Norse mythology, and the historical early 6th century Scandinavian warrior culture. Grendel's Cave 2D is based on the on-line version of the game. Now Beowulf brings you this adventure as a real-time interactive 2D game for PC and Mac. In Grendel's Cave 2D you create Thanes, kill monsters, increase value, stats and magic, and collect items. You obtain gold rings by selling items or by Singing of Deeds before King Hrothgar. You gain magical abilities by visiting the Witch and by acquiring magical items. This leads you to complete the five quests, earn amulet pieces, and craft a full amulet. Wearing this amulet gives you the power to kill Grendel and win the game. Sound familiar? Yes, it is basically the same game but now in striking, amazing full 2D!
In Grendel's Cave 2D you can connect to your existing account. There are five features of your online account that can be useful, but not necessary, to play Grendel's Cave 2D.
Protection from Death: If you have an online active protection from death premium then that premium will work in Grendel's Cave 2D. With this protection, when you die in the game, you are allowed to restore your character back to Heorot Hall, or your last save point, your choice, with a death penalty defined by the specific kingdom type you are playing in.
Lives: You can use your online earned or purchased lives in Grendel's Cave 2D. You can use these lives to resurrect a dead character, to trade for up to six enhanced and special abilities on each character, or to enter and play in a Tournament kingdom type.
Loot Box Codes: You can earn loot box codes by playing and winning Grendel's Cave 2D. Having an online account linked to 2D allows you to register these codes online, and then convert them into lives to use for resurrections and premiums both online and in Grendel's Cave 2D.
Hall of Fame: If you win in an Advanced or Tournament kingdom in 2D then your name will be added to the Grendel's Cave online Hall of Fame.
